THIS WEEK Penn State hosts Purdue for the 15th meeting between the schools and the first as members of the Big Ten Leaders Division. The teams are meeting for the first time since 2008 and will annually meet starting this week. The Boilermakers are making their first trip to Beaver Stadium since 2007. The No. 25 Nittany Lions are coming off a strong 13-3 victory over Iowa last Saturday. The Boilermakers beat Minnesota, 45-17, last week in their conference opener, taking a 24-0 lead in the first quarter. Penn State has a 63-20 (75.9) record since the start of the 2005 season, the nation’s 11th-best winning percentage over the past seven seasons.

PURDUE COACH DANNY HOPE

Danny Hope has a 12-17 record in his third year as coach of the Boilermakers and a 47-39 mark in his eighth year overall. He was head coach at Eastern Kentucky from 2003-07 and served as associate head coach at Purdue in 2008 under Joe Tiller. Hope also was a Purdue assistant coach from 1997-2001. Hope is a 1981 graduate of Eastern Kentucky.

SCOUTING THE BOILERMAKERS

Purdue visits Happy Valley for the first time under third-year head coach Danny Hope on Saturday, making its first vist since 2007. Beginning the 2011 season with a 2-2 non-conference record, the Boilermakers kicked off their Big Ten schedule last week in West Lafayette with a decisive 45-17 victory over Minnesota. Purdue jumped out to a 31-0 lead and held a four-touchdown advantage over Minnesota at halftime en route to securing a 1-0 start to conference play for the second consecutive season. The Boilermaker offense amassed 217 yards rushing while the defense forced three turnovers and held the Golden Gophers offense to just 213 total yards and no touchdowns. Purdue ranks fifth in the Big Ten in both scoring (32.6 ppg) and total offense (412.2 ypg). The Boilermakers have started quickly, scoring 51 points in the first quarter and 48 in the second. Junior quarterback Caleb TerBush has completed 64.2 percent of his passes (75 of 117) for 787 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions. Robert Marve is 20 of 36 for 197 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions in three games. Senior wide receiver Justin Siller leads the Boilermakers with 20 receptions while junior Antavian Edison has a team-high 280 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and 16.5 yards per catch average. Wideout O.J. Ross has 18 catches for 187 yards and one score. The Purdue rushing attack features a trio of ball carriers. Junior Ralph Bolden is the team’s top ground gainer with 273 yards on 57 carries and three touchdowns. Junior Akeem Shavers (44-242-4 TDs) and freshman Akeem Hunt (18-152-2 TDs) are also big contributors and TerBush has gained 120 yards and scored once on the ground this year. Senior linebacker Joe Holland leads the Boilermaker defense in both solo (25) and total tackles (36) and he has a trio of tackles for loss. Junior defensive tackle Kawann Short, who has a team-high six tackles for loss, is vital to the Purdue run defense. In the secondary, senior safety Albert Evans ranks second on the team with 31 tackles while sophomore cornerback Ricardo Allen has two of Purdue’s three interceptions. Senior kicker Carson Wiggs, who has booted the top four longest field goals program history (59, 55, 53 and 52 yards), has connected on 7-of-11 attempts in 2011. Sophomore Corey Webster leads the Big Ten in punting, averaging 48.1 yards per kick.

PARROT PARKING

The parking lot directly north of the Parrot is no longer available. If you are unable to find a meter spot in the immediate area the following are suggested alternatives:

1. Residents of Fort Lauderdale can get a pass to park on A1A north of Sunrise Blvd for $6.00 per year. Go to www.fortlauderdale.gov/parking for the details. If you don’t qualify for a resident pass you can still park in this area till 3 a.m. at the regular hourly rate.

2. Parking is available at the B Ocean Hotel directly across from The Parrot for $10.00. Valet only. Enter off Sunrise Blvd into the front of the hotel.

3. Parking is available at Birch State Park for $6.00 all day, from 8 a.m. til Dusk. It is a very short walk. Gates close promptly so don’t be late.

4. Parking at the Gallery 1 on the West Side of the Sunrise Bridge is $13.00 valet only (plenty of available spots) and walk across the bridge. It only takes a few minutes

5. Park at the Galleria Mall and walk across the bridge. It only takes a few minutes.
