Happy Hour

We will be kicking off July with a Happy Hour at PRIMANTI BROTHERS located at 2019 North University Drive, Sunrise (just north of Sunrise Blvd. on the west side of University Drive) on Friday July 8, 2011 from 5 p.m. to ???.  Full Bar-1/2 price for Happy Hour (4-7). Family friendly, so bring the kids. Full Menu. Owned and operated by a Penn Stater. Come support one of our golf tournament sponsors.

Student Send-Off Picnic 2011
When: Saturday, July 30, at 12:00 p.m.

Where: Snyder Park, Pavilion #1

3299 SW 4th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL

From I-95 take Exit 25 East on State Road 84. Turn right (south) The park will be on the right.
Cost: $10 members, $20 nonmembers (pay your annual dues at the picnic and pay member price) Children 6 & under are free.   Free for incoming freshman and $5 for returning students.
RSVP: events@psu-ftlauderdale.com by July 25, 2011 so that we have an estimate of the number of attending.

Local alumni will again sponsor the Student Send-Off Picnic. This is a great way for alumni to connect with incoming freshmen, current Penn State students, and other local alumni.   During the picnic, alumni and current students share their memorable stories with each other and with incoming freshmen.  This is a wonderful opportunity for freshmen to ask current students or alumni any questions they may have regarding life at Penn State. This year’s Broward County class is 36 students, the most ever.  It is also a chance for incoming freshmen to meet other classmates in the Broward County area. Like any picnic, there will be tons of food grilled up for everyone to enjoy. This is one of many events hosted by the local chapter that everyone of all ages looks forward to attending each year. See you there.

It’s time to pay 2011-2012 dues.  Membership dues are for the period July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012. Dues can be paid at any event, online or by mail. See www.psu-ftlauderdale.com for more information. 2011 Penn State graduates receive one year free membership and should contact psu-president@psu-ftlauderdale.com.

More Happy Hours

We will bring August in with a really good time on Friday, August 5th, 2011 at Sopranos Dueling Piano Bar at Beach Place, 17 S. Ft Lauderdale Beach Blvd
3rd Floor, Fort Lauderdale Beach. Happy Hour starts at 5:00, Show is 6:00 – 9:00
No cover charge before 9:00. Happy Hour prices: Domestic Beer (from their list) $2.00, Other Beer $5.00, House Drinks (well drinks) $3.00, Wine & Frozen Drinks $5.00. Happy Hours are also being planned for August 19, 2011 and for August 26, 2011 in anticipation of the upcoming 2011 football season. Details to follow.

Beginning in September, join us each Saturday at the WORLD FAMOUS PARROT LOUNGE, 911 Sunset Lane, Fort Lauderdale, FL (1 block west of A1A, ½ block south of Sunrise Blvd) to watch your Nittany Lions football team. This is South Florida’s Penn State meeting place. Please support this golf tournament sponsor.
